"Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." ~Berthold Auerbach
I recently came across this quote and I find it to be so very true, at least in my own experience. Music has always been such a powerful source in my life. It has been there whether I am feeling blue, content, or cheerful. Music doesn't ask questions, give advice, or patronize. It merely listens to your innermost thoughts and then expresses them for you in a beautiful melodic fashion. Music provides a label for your confusion and an outlet for your feelings.
The songs that I have selected for my play list are the songs that are speaking to me right now. They wrap me up in the way that a mother wraps up her child in a soft blanket and they rock me in that same comforting rhythm that a mother uses to soothe her child. I am so thankful to God for the gift of music!
"Undertow"
Silly me, look what I did again
I found what I want
Is what I cannot have
I didn't mean to be so predictable
But I blame it all on who made you irresistible
And it isn't something I need
'til you tell me I can't
Why wear my heart on my sleeve
When it looks so good in your hand
My heart breaks in a heart beat
And you storm me when you come and go
The taste of something so sweet should have
Warned me 'bout the undertow
Oh, I couldn't find a better man to let me go
Little girl, I don't know why you stay
If I had a feather for every time daddy said that I could fly away
Old habits are so hard to break
It'd be a shame to stop now that I've started to make really good mistakes
And I don't know why I must ask
For the forbidden fruit
I saw the snake in the grass
But I had bitten too soon
My heart breaks in a heart beat
And you storm me when you come and go
The taste of something so sweet should have
Warned me 'bout the undertow
Oh, I couldn't find a better man to let me go
I should have seen you coming in
Should recognize the signs a Wave's gonna break
Now, I've given in, why fight it when
I'm resigned to simply live in your wake
Your wake
Heart breaks in a heart beat
And you storm me when you come and go
The taste of something so sweet should have
Warned me 'bout the undertow
Oh, I couldn't find a better man to let me go
No no no no
I couldn't find a better man to let me go

Eternal Thoughts
Ughh, I can't sleep tonight! Thinking about stuff. One such "stuff" being, that I'm looking forward to a blissful eternity. Don't go running to the phone book looking for numbers to hot lines for me. I hope eternity doesn't begin for at least another 50 years. I'm just thinking about how nice it will be (understatement of the millennium) to have no sadness, uncertainty, uncomfortable decisions to agonize over, anxiety that makes you want to puke, achy bodies, tired spirits, self disgust, resentment, and loved ones deeply wounding us in one way or another. I also look forward to not being burdened by debt and paying bills, particularly paying a ridiculously (and never ending)sized car payment on a crappy car that is falling apart. I also hope that I have a maid in heaven, you know, someone that like barely made it in. Totally kidding! My mom told me once that houses in heaven are self cleaning. That is so awesome!Just thinking.

Favorite Things: Etsy
Oprah, whom I love despite her liberal persuasion, has her list of favorite things. So, I thought I would start my own list and today's favorite is Etsy. Etsy is an online marketplace where various sellers sell their handmade or antique goods. It is a dream come true for me! I love craft fairs and I love antique stores and Etsy is like one giant antique store and craft fair combined. It's a heavenly website that I must admit I have become absolutely addicted to.
One of the reasons that I love Etsy so much is that you can purchase items that are truly one of a kind, something that no one else will have and that is a perfect match for your style and personality. Do you want a purse that shows pride in your Alma Mater? You can probably find it. Or do you want a necklace that displays your political persuasion? You can probably find that, too! The possibilities are endless on Etsy.
Also, when you purchase an item from Etsy, you are supporting an individual, not a corporation. Many stay at home mamas sell handmade items on Etsy to support their families.
I have displayed just a couple of items that I have recently purchased on Etsy.com. You really should check it out sometime.
P.S.- These purses were birthday gifts from my Papa Rick, Kibby, and Uncle Ricky. Thanks so much, I love them! I'm so glad you're feeling better Papa!
